These adorable and unusual Wheat Straw Sandhill Crane Ornaments are hand-made from tiny pieces of wheat straw. Each crane measures 6 1/2" x 8" and comes boxed and ready for gift giving. Perfect for your Christmas tree or to hang in your home any time of year.
Each wheat straw crane is the culmination of a great deal of time and effort by highly skilled artisans. Wheat stalks are first dyed to their brilliant hues in large concrete vats. Each stalk is then split, ironed into flat strips, and joined to form a sheet. Tiny pieces are then either cut or punched from these sheets that will ultimately form the finished crane. Each piece is then carefully positioned and glued to create the final design. As a final touch, the ornaments are lacquered to help preserve them for future years of enjoyment.
