How would you feel if you didn't have a name? This idea spurred Mary Henning and Bob Heiden to collaborate and create I Wish … I Had a Name, a 26-page illustrated children’s picture book. This is a story about a river that didn’t have a name. All of the animals that had names would come along and talk to the river. The story developed as the animals picked a name for the river. By the end of the book, all readers will cherish their own special names!

Mary Henning has been a storyteller for 20 years now and has written four books; I Wish ...  I Had a Name! being the latest. She is a proud wife, mother of two married children and grandmother to six wonderful grandkids. Mary has been honored with the Friend of Kearney Award, the Freedom Award for Arts and the Friend of 4-H, among others. She is the vice-president of the Crane River Theater Board, a MONA Board member and a Kearney Area Storytelling Board member.

A Kearney native, Bob graduated from Kearney High School in 2002. He earned a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Technical Theater from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Bob channels his creativity as an Art Director for Buckle Inc. where he manages the graphic design team. With a passion for the fine arts, Bob has designed and painted sets for many local organizations including Zion Lutheran Church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Kearney Community Theatre. He has served in multiple design capacities with Crane River Theater during the last five seasons and currently serves on the Board of Directors. His other hobbies include antiquing, home improvement projects, freelance graphic design and singing with the Platte River Singers choir
